Fundraising

At Hodge Hill College, we provide a positive ethos based upon British values that are shared across the school community. The culture and ethos of the school promote respect as well as healthy and productive attitudes towards learning, life and work. Pupils are encouraged to contribute to the life and work of the school and, from the earliest stages, to exercise their responsibilities as members of a community. As part of empowering student to be responsible members of the community we have a coordinated fundraising programme that supports the collective worship calendar.

Fundraising at Hodge Hill College

2021/2022

On Friday 19 November 2021, Hodge Hill College took part in many different activities, in school, to raise money for Children in Need. These events varied from students participating in table tennis tournaments against their teachers, football tournaments on the 3G pitch, to being able to purchase treats, where the profits went to Children in Need.

As a school, we raised a huge £507 with Year 8 raising £231 of it. This was due to Mr Read (Year 8 AC) deciding to take part in an ice bucket challenge, in front of the year group, if they raised over £80 leading up to the Friday.

2022/2023

Fundraising has been carried out in various ways at Hodge Hill College. In the academic year 2022/23, each year group selected a charity to support and raised nearly £1000 for the five chosen charities. Additionally, the pupils raised over £1000 to assist those affected by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. The pupils also showed their generosity by donating 94kg of food items to Aston and Nechells Trussell Trust Food Bank and £300 for Save the Children UK through Christmas Jumper Day. The pupils participating in the Duke of Edinburgh program ran charity events as part of their volunteering section, resulting in £400 and numerous donations being made to Birmingham Settlement and Islamic Relief.

2023/2024

In 2023/24, a charity at Hodge Hill College looked at ways to support the school community amidst the "cost of living crisis". As a result, there have been regular food bank collections which have enabled over 450 food parcels to be delivered to families with children at Hodge Hill College. Additionally, there were other fundraising events throughout the year which donated funds towards subsidising the Year 11 Prom for everyone to celebrate the end of their 5-year journey at the school. Pupils participating in the Duke of Edinburgh programme ran charity events as part of their volunteering sections, resulting in over £400 being donated to Show Racism the Red Card, Barnados and Islamic Relief.
