Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition
In June, 16 Year 11 pupils successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition. This two-day, one-night challenge took place in the Wyre Forest area, where the pupils demonstrated their independence and resilience. To complete the expedition, they navigated a designated route using their map-reading skills, carried fully equipped backpacks, set up tents to sleep in, and cooked meals using camping stoves.
This expedition marked the final component of the Bronze Award for these pupils, who had already completed the volunteering, physical, and skills sections. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an internationally recognised qualification that provides invaluable experiences, enhancing applications for part-time jobs, colleges, and apprenticeships.
The award also forms part of our Secure Curriculum at Hodge Hill College. The determination, teamwork, and self-management demonstrated throughout the expedition exemplify the values of 'achievement' and 'excellence' within our CARE framework.
Congratulations to all the pupils involved, and best of luck as you begin your Silver Award journeys in your Post-16 destinations!
