Summer School

Hodge Hill College Summer School 17th - 28th August

My Summer School Experience

My Summer School experience was great! When I first walked in, I was really nervous but you will find out that you will make many friends very quickly. In Summer School, you get the opportunity to participate in many different activities such as making your own Egyptian portrait and doing Science experiments. The members of staff were very nice and helpful.

On the last day, our parents got the chance to see all the work that we had completed over the past two weeks of Summer School. I was really proud to show off all the work that I had done. Taking part in the Summer School program is a really exciting way to spend your summer holidays. It will certainly keep you very busy during the holidays and also, you get to know more about your new secondary college.

In my opinion, there is no chance of ever getting bored in Summer School because there are lots of fun activities to do, opportunity to make new friends, get to know the teachers and meet with the head of year that will be looking after us during our time in year 7.

To sum up Summer School in three words:

Friendly, Amazing and Marvellous

At Hodge Hill College, I enjoyed the Science and art activities. The teachers were super kind and it was fun mixing with new people and making new friends. I hope that next year’s year 7 enjoy Summer School as much as I did!

Summer School! Oh where can I start? Summer School was a very fun experience as it taught me about the different lifestyles of the ancient Egyptians. In addition to this, I had so much fun because of all the exciting events that we did.

Such as:

  • Making Shabatis using clay
  • Making a water clock
  • Science experiments
  • Art activities including making our own Egyptian style self-portraits
  • And much more!
