COVID-19: Update on Face Masks in Schools

Following Department for Education and World Health Organisation guidance:

  • Pupils should wear a face covering whilst in communal areas and whilst moving about the building although exemptions apply for medical grounds
  • Face coverings must be removed when sat in classrooms

More information by the DfE:  FAQs on Face Coverings in Schools

As part of our drive to improve the environment, we are discouraging the need for single use face masks. We will be issuing every pupil with a reusable face mask on Friday 18th September and this item will form part of their uniform and we will approach it in the same way as we do with footwear.

Any pupil who forgets to bring their mask will be able to purchase a reusable mask for £2.

Alternatively, they will also be able to purchase a single use mask for which we are inviting a donation of 50p. All proceeds from the sale of single use face masks will be donated to the Year 11 Head Boy and Head Girl’s chosen charity. Further information will follow about this next week.

I thank you for your continued support.
